Is it true that an electric shaver requires no lubrication of the face? - electric shaver ingrown hair

I am 15 years old and have a good amount of facial hair. This is not a problem for me, but does require a class of ROTC that I'm shaved. The things we read that shaving very alarming (irritation, redness, ingrown hairs). I really want to avoid shaving cream and order. and some tips on how you would shave as much as possible will be greatly appreciated
